Critical Role Campaign 4 Introduces the Fighters Party

Since the launch of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master the talented storyteller has kept viewers on edge with rich lore, a wide array of characters, and a thrilling plot featuring celestial beings, demons, and dark forces expanding in power within Dol-Makjar.

Heads-up: Key plot points for Episode 3 of Campaign 4 are included.

The Warrior Group Unveiled

Episode 3 finished on a huge suspense moment and revealed the initial group of adventurers who will branch out from the main group to embark on their own adventure, separate from the other two tables.

The Soldiers table consists of the determined fighter (brought to life by Travis), Thimble (Laura Bailey), the strong-willed figure (Whitney Moore), Wicander (Sam Riegel), and the mysterious adventurer (the actor).

Dividing the Cast

With a large ensemble, it was obvious from the start that maintaining everyone at one table would be impossible.

That’s why, the opening chapters of the new season serve as an Overture, intertwining the characters’ stories before splitting into three distinct groups: Warriors, Strategists, and Seekers.

Characteristics of the Combat Party

As described by the Dungeon Master, the warrior group is for players who enjoy a typically action-packed battle-oriented story mode where diplomatic options are rare.

Initially, figures such as the hesitant healer Wicander Halovar might seem unsuited, but the developments of the third episode show why these specific adventurers are best suited for the Soldiers table.

Reasons to Leave

For one thing, the team knows exactly where to proceed after a violent first encounter with the enemy group.

Casimir of the deceased character—whose death started the narrative’s action—exploited the foes for his own means, breaking into the secret base, assaulting Thimble, and taking all the magical artifacts to dispose of.

The antagonist then cleared his obligations and ran away to a secure base in the remote area, beyond Dol-Makjar, with Cyd Pridesire pursuing him.

Character Drivers

Additionally, each character has a individual motive to depart Dol-Makjar:

  • The rogue, as Thjazi’s partner and trusted friend, desires retribution.
  • The adventurer has experience in Timmony and warns that it is a hostile environment.
  • Tyranny and The healer, having disobeyed his family’s wishes to execute the target and instead freed him, have no safe haven.
  • But, their reputation as important members in the powerful family could enable the group access locations they usually can’t.
  • Additionally, The fighter pledged a eternal obligation to The cleric for his rescue and will now go with him everywhere.

Fugitives

Lastly, all of them are hunted by the powers that rule the city for a variety of reasons, making lingering locally dangerous:

  • The agile adventurer and The character are recognized lawbreakers.
  • The warrior and Wicander turned against the influential house and the army of fiends they are allied with.
  • Teor is targeted for elimination by House Halovar.

This leaves them no alternative but to travel to the northern region in search of the antagonist.

Upcoming Developments

According to the recent installment’s Cooldown, we learn that the Soldiers table will be absent the following episode, leaving the remaining eight participants to form the Questers and Strategists parties.

Audiences can look forward to learning which adventurers will be where in Campaign 4’s concluding setup installment, released on the upcoming Thursday.
